Gentlemen: I have been a fan since the mid 90's. As a smooth Jazz & Fusion musician myself, I'm just full of admiration for everything you have contributed to the genre over the years. You are more than contributors - you were innovators at the beginning! I just read, sadly, of the passing of Carl and Hollis. Please continue in their memory and honour - and come up to Ontario sometime!

Heard your music for the first time on Skyfm radio this morning. As a mature smooth jazz fan (young at heart !) who was converted to this genre relatively recently.. 10 years ago, I'd like to say how much I loved it. I only wish I knew about it in 1986. Alas.. too busy having babies !!

well, I have to say that for me as a Heavy Metal singer could be strange how I am impressed by a soft, funky, latin sound but that is the way it is. Every single morning along with my vitamins and breackfast comes the sound of "Work to Do" and a "Anything is possible" which send me the right and exactly message for my starting day Thank you very much for that songs and for your entire music. When you guys comming to Mexico ???

Sat nite performance at the Norfolk Jazz Festival was great. Despite the temperature (new daily high of 105 degrees) you guys played all out. It was very well received as evidenced by the audience reaction. Missed you at the autograph tent after the show. Looking forward to seeing/hearing you again.

Today 7/10/2k10,Is the first time I heard the sad news about Carl Evans Jr.
and Hollis gentry the third,passing...
I've been a fan since the Inception of Fattburger back in 86' with One Of A Kind
I'm sending much regards-and I pray for each and every member-past to presently...I met almost all of the 89'
members-Steve Laury was about to "step out"...It was the show at Bird land west
and after the show, somehow myself and my best friend Eric D.Is suddenly hanging out with Fattburger!I think steve took off early, butCarl,Tom,Mark, and kevin talked to us as If we were just one of the guy's---we even had a Fattburger trivia moment-as Carl asked
me and my friend Eric,to name the albulm
that certin songs he would name, were actually on---well two "Time Will Tell" T-shirts later, and then my friend that's a big Bobby Lyle fan,had Carl giving "much praise" for Bobby's piano/keyboard skills. So about 15to25 minutes,we continued to "shoot the breeze" as the equipment was being loaded for transport...I will never forget Carl Evans Jr. and Hollis Gentry the third. I've become a "Love poetry writer since 92'and I've truly been Inspired by all of You,so I really hope to see my "Favorite group In the world---Fattburger" perform "One More Time"...
May God be with you!!!"Dr.Poet 7/11/2k10.

Far too late in coming, this entry to your site and legacy is well overdue. Having known Carl Evans Jr., Hollis Gentry, Nathan East and other members of that Crawford High School musical mafia, I have watched Fattburger develop from its inception and very early stages. My brother Marc shared musical creation and childhood friendship with these fine musicians and I as the older brother, was actually allowed to input early in their development. My band's moderate success led me to actually become a broadcaster for a period and in that role, I was often in touch with Carl, Hollis and Nate to varying degrees. All this backdrop to say to those who may not know , that the passing of Carl Evans Jr., Hollis Gentry and San Diego's Lamont Johnson has created a vacuum of musical talent that cannot be easily filled. Indeed, a recent musical piece that I have written to advance a children's literacy project mentions Carl and Hollis by name and does so both as an honorific and because their presence in the creation of this effort for children was seminal. We might speak about "Fattburger's" personnel from a musical standpoint and not be done for days. There can be no doubt that Fattburger as been one of the most uniquely creative groups in Jazz. One needs look no further than "Trail of Tears" to appreciate that fact. But they have also brought a form of humanity, to include human failings, to the music industry and more to the world. "Fattburger's" evolving quality, with the loss of Hollis and Carl, attests that what was begun as a band has morphed into much, much more. As an "armchair" musicologist and as one knowledgeable of much of the music, I look forward to the children that my efforts will hopefully reach being made aware of the efforts, pedigree and achievements of this "Super Group." One can find music that is different than "Fattburger," but there is no music that is better. Once a group reaches a certain level of performance, their place in the hierarchy and pantheon of music is merely a matter of preference on the part of the listener. "Fattburger" has reached those heights and the world has been made just a little better from the efforts of these fine personalities and their music.

I just wanted to say hi. I saw you were on Wikipedia, and just today discovered that Carl passed in 2008. God bless. I used to come see you every week at the PB cafe, back in '85, when Hollis and Steve were in the group. I had so many wonderful evenings listening to your music. I continued to listen and buy your CD's over the years, always a fan. You guys have aged, but still look great. I saw you in Austin one year, and saw you in Vegas in '06. Glad I saw Carl play again. His love and joy made Fattburger, his smiling face. Crying. Life is bittersweet, isn't it?
